Why I will not be watching 50 Shades of Grey

When it comes to any form of pornography , men are called pigs and women get the go ahead. Surely if a woman watches a harmless movie with men dancing around naked or a movie based solely on sex, it’s completely harmless. Women can’t get addicted to porn or reading about other people’s sex life’s , right?

When 50 Shades of Grey came out I knew immediately it wasn’t going on my Kindle app. No thank you to reading about sex . All I have to do is walk around in a nursing bra and my husband thinks it’s time to practice fertilization , I don’t need to read about sex to enjoy it.

The sex topic is so easily discussed, put in movies casually , and played up to be harmless.

I knew many women who chose to read 50 Shades of Grey. That’s fine , that was their choice . But it saddened my heart. I wonder if these same women would want their husbands reading about other people having sex to further enjoy their own sex lives?

The problem with inviting sexually immoral scenes into your mind is that you begin to compare. With women comparing themselves on a daily basis with the woman standing in line at Target , this only makes it worse.

It also completely erases the sanctity of sex in marriage. If you have to watch or read something to help you enjoy sex in your relationship , there are further issues that need to be fixed.

I refuse to disrespect my husband by watching or reading anything that replaces, or enhances my need for intimacy with him.

Sex in marriage was created by our Father , who loved us so much that he designed a perfect way for a married couple to bond.

When we allow other things to take its place we are setting ourselves up for heartache. For mistrust and division in the end.

Women! You are targeted right now. You are told this is harmless and fun. Maybe some of you are planning a girls night , to leave the kids and husband at home to get away and enjoy some peace and quiet.

What you’re really doing is opening a door in your marriage that you’re told is harmless for hurt and disappointment.

Guess what. No marriage is awesome all the time , and good sex comes from respecting each other. Constantly being emotionally connected. Fighting a little , then realizing you have to work at marriage AND sex.

It’s doesn’t happen overnight . But you can start by setting a standard in your marriage.

I will respect you with what I allow my mind to think about . I will honor you with what my eyes see and I will love you and only you. Not what could be.

I will respect my children, by respecting their father. By valuing our marriage enough to keep myself pure. By loving their Father the right and holy way.

  1. Yes! Well said Rachel, well said!

  2. Right on GURL! People think it is harmless “fluff”, but like any pornography it permiates and poisons the mind. Once seen porn can be “unseen”. That us why I won’t read/watch this.

    1. I agree! Why poison our minds?
